Community Music
& the Long Walk - UK and Hong Kong
Pete Moser
Pete
Moser was the music director of the world famous International Welfare State
Theatre Company in Great Britain. After he left the company, he started
Moremusic which is based in the resort town of Morecambe. Moremusic has now
become one of the most important groups to propound community music which has
exploded in the British music scene, spreading in the country like wildfire.
Pete Moser and his work have been highly recognized with the Arts award by the
Arts Council in the UK.
Through a systematic and highly enjoyable approach, Pete Moser's methods allow
people, whether 1 or 101 to enjoy music and to write and sing their own songs.
In 2007, Pete Moser worked with dozens of musicians and non-musicians, including
overseas Chinese to create Long Walk which he referred to as a journey in music,
image and song. It actually was a musical event that commemorates the Morecambe
Bay Tragedy of 2004 when 24 cocklers from Fujian were drown by rising tide. The
Long Walk premiered at Morecambe and was invited to Liverpool, the cultural
capital of Europe in 2008.
