By Augustine Mok Chiu-yu, Lee Ching, Tong Si-hong
In Cantonese (with Chinese and English subtitles)

A 35mm film by anarchist members of the legendary syndicate “The 70s”. It was filmed in locations where young people used to hang out, such as “Brazil Café” in Ocean Terminus. It was premiered in City Hall Lower Block as a programme of the 1978 Short Film Festival. Towards the end of 1980, an agreement was reached with a distributor to screen it as the additional programme in the screenings of selected films by Woody Allen. The film was submitted for censorship check on 13th December, and a notice was received on the 24th December stating that the film did not pass censorship, and that no public screenings were allowed.

Blackbird (1987, 90mins)
By Augustine Mok Chiu-yu, Lenny Kwok, Fung Man-yee, Herman Yau, Ng Han-lam, Lee Lok
In Cantonese (with English subtitles)

In September 1984 Augustine Mok Chiu-yu, Lenny Kwok and Fung Man-yee travelled to Venice to attend an Anarchist conference. The theme of the conference was comparing 1984 in reality with George Orwell’s 1984. The conference programme included a carnival, a small-scale film festival, and an exhibition of anarchism and the arts. The film has recorded the carnival as seen by Mok and Fung, and the psychological journey experienced by Kwok during their travels. When Kwok returned to Hong Kong in 1985, Herman Yau, Ng Han-lam and Lee Lok joined the production team and shot the parts about Kwok’s participation in local social campaigns, and the community tour of the gig of his band Blackbird which was entitled “The East is Red”. The film was shot in 16mm, and premiered in January 1987 in Ko Shan Theatre.
