象徵生命和文明搖籃的河流,如何由遠古發展至現在?

Confluence of Rivers, International performance, Hong Kong, Thailand, Bangladesh, Uganda, France

Confluence of rivers is a joint creation between Asian People's Theatre Festival Society (Hong Kong), Makhampom (Thailand), Aranyak Natadyal (Bangladesh), Theatre Factory (Uganda), and Crue des Sens (France). This play explores the challenges in mixing/combining such diversified cultures, languages and ancient roots of humanity.  The performance will be touring in each of the countries respectively.

Pearl River, Mekong River, Ganges River, River Nile and River Seine are five of the major rivers in the world, where ancient population, civilizations were born and cultivated.  While wars, exclusion and injustice are happening across these same areas, this project aims to gather artists to dig deep into the history and cultures, to explore the wisdom from the birthplaces, to investigate into the challenges today, and to fuse them into a new alternative to deal with our modern world.

The King journeys upstream with his crew on his quest for the Naga – the Dragon God.  Mysterious forces stop his boat and he meets the mythical Common Man.  Common Man forces The King to question his ambition to conquer the source of the river.

Fusing diverse art forms from Cantonese Opera, Thai Dance, Lathi Khela (Bangladeshi stick-fighting) to Ugandan Dance, Mime and Commedia dell’Arte, Ashes Blood Rivers explores the relationship between people, civilization, power and the environment.
